So, was our first +.1″ of snow on time? Actually, it was! Today, we picked up .4″ of snow at FWA, no where close to the daily record of 3.9″ of snow set back in 1959. On average, our first plus .1″ of snow happens on the 14th of November. Our earliest plus .1″ of snow happened on the 14th of October, 1937.
What about our first plus 1″ of snow? The earliest 1″ snow event for Fort Wayne happened on the 19th of October, 1974. But on average, our first plus 1″ snow event happens on the 2nd of December. All these weather averages are based on a 30 year average and can be found here: First Snowfall Statistics for the Area, by Northern Indiana National Weather Service.
