Highest Thursday Wind Speeds (Through 9:24 PM) Data Credit: NWS

Through the evening, reports have come in of trees being knocked down as a result of the high winds.  I’ve seen reports from Defiance and Marion.  Plus, earlier this afternoon, a downed tree knocked out power to streetlights and businesses along Jefferson Blvd. on the southwest side of Fort Wayne.  All in all, around 900 customers on that side of town were affected.  It should be noted, though, that at last check, there was no official confirmation from the power company that the tree came down due to the weather, but from my meteorological perspective, it does appear to be the likely cause.

Take a look at some of our highest winds from the afternoon/evening.  Defiance takes the top spot with a 55 mph wind!

Wind speeds will peak again in the morning when gusts 40-50 mph+ will be possible.  Additional trees and power outages may occur as a result.
