Different start to new year
Cold Start Much Different Than Last Year
Last year we began the new year with temperatures in the upper 40s and fell into the 30 degree range for the second day of the month. Temperatures were well above normal last January for the monthly average. What will this January be like?
The new 6 to 10 day outlook has temperatures well above normal for next week. The Climate Prediction Center has a high probability that this will happen across our area.
What about the month ahead?
Interestingly enough the 30 day outlook has temperatures slightly above normal which would indicate that we won’t be quite as warm as last January but slightly above normal which is in the lower 30′s for the month.
The latest model outlooks do show warming in the medium range forecast for late next week even bringing rain to the region by the end of next week.
