Weekend rain on the wayJanuary 12th, 2013 at 12:21 pm by Nicholas Ferreri under Weather
As an area of low pressure advances toward us tonight, look for widespread rain to arrive, along with some thunderstorms, which will continue through the early morning hours of Sunday.
The rain will be heavy at times with 1″-1.5″ inches forecast to fall in Fort Wayne by Sunday morning when the rain has tapered off.
The incoming system is moisture-rich and has a maximum potential of producing 2″-3″ in spots south and east of Fort Wayne. Looking at the images I’ve posted here, you get a better look at how the rain will fall through the region. The wider view is the forecast from the Hydrometeorological Prediction Center (Part of the National Weather Service and NOAA), while the local view is our very own WANE-TV Futurecast model. By analyzing both, you see they are in fairly good agreement, especially in highlighting the trend that the heaviest rainfall amounts will fall in areas south of Fort Wayne.
If you live in an area that is prone to flood after a heavy rainfall, you may very well experience flooding from this system as it makes its way through.
