After a record setting Friday and a near record setting Saturday cold weather has returned to the area. One thing I don’t get to talk a lot about on TV are the extended outlooks. I get several messages, calls and emails each week wondering about the forecast. Well, here is what the extended forecast, beyond 7 days looks like.

There is a 60% chance that temperatures will be below normal next week. This is also confirmed by some of our ‘medium range” models which take temperatures well below normal next week with an arctic blast of cold air.

The other part of this forecast is for precipitation. This should make you ‘snow lovers’ happy as there are chances of above average precipitation from January 21st through 27th.
