It hasn’t been this cold in over 711 days!
The last time is has been this cold was on the 10 of February, 2010 when the low temperature was -13° and the high temperature was 9°. As of this Monday, it has been 711 days since we have seen the temperature drop below zero. This streak will likely come to an end Tuesday night with a forecasted low temperature of -2° into Wednesday morning.
More pressing though, is the combination of the winds and the arctic air, pushing our wind chills well below zero Monday night. Here is a look at the 24 hour temperature forecast for Fort Wayne:
When you combine winds from 10 to 20 mph, wind chills may drop as low as -15° to -20° by Tuesday morning:
With wind chill indices this low, the National Weather Service has issued a Wind Chill Advisory until 11AM Tuesday for all the counties highlighted in light blue:
Hands down it goes without saying, bundle up not only Tuesday morning but also Wednesday morning.

I am refusing to send my kids to school today, how can you expect anyone….. Let alone children to wait in -16 below weather for a school bus… Mine will be at home …. Safe and warm. Anyone in their right minds would do the same! Best regards juliet
