Snowfall Across The AreaJanuary 25th, 2013 at 11:14 am by Greg Shoup under Weather
We generally have had 1 to 2″ across our area and most likely that’s what most of the region will end up with. South of Fort Wayne will see about 2″ to just over 2″ while areas around Fort Wayne and east will see between 1 and 2″. The interesting characteristic for this snowfall is that it is very dry. The water content is about 12 to 1, instead of the standard 10 to 1. So in other words, with a 10 to 1 ratio an inch of water equals ten inches of snow. So with the high ratio we see a powder type snow, something that is very common in the Rockies, (skiers love powder), but not common here.
