Happy Groundhog Day!

So far today, we’ve received the verdict from, perhaps, the world’s most famous groundhog – Punxsutawney Phil – in Punxsutawney, PA.  He emerged from his wintertime home and did NOT see his shadow, meaning an early spring is headed our way.

But, of course, here in the Fort Wayne area, we have the masterful Metea Park Marvin who makes his own predictions.  As we learned in my “investigative” report last night, there has been much controversy over whether Punxsutawney Phil is the only groundhog to have weather predicting abilities.

Groundhog Day party-goers at Metea Park spent part of their celebration time looking for Marvin to see if he had come out of his winter home.  But, he had not…he was still hibernating.  However, Bob Dispenza who led the special Groundhog Day event at Metea Park, told NewsChannel 15 that had Marvin been out today, he would not have seen his shadow.

So, according to the groundhogs, the answer is unanimous…an early spring for all of us!!

Believe you me, we’ll be tracking their accuracy in the Live Doppler 15 Fury Weather Center in the weeks to come.
