We Could Use Some RainAugust 24th, 2013 at 5:42 pm by Jesse Hawila under Weather
Within the first week of August, we picked up more than 4 inches of rain at the Fort Wayne Airport. After that, rain was very hard to come by. We did pick up a well deserved 0.81″ on the 22nd, but the forecast is looking rather dry over the next several days. Parts of the Midwest and Indiana are starting to reach abnormally dry status and even moderate drought in parts of the plains. Here is the latest drought monitor for both the region and state.
With well above average temperatures and minimal rain chances this week, we will have to see if we reach this ‘abnormally dry’ status in our area. All of Ohio is in good shape as of now. Though September may start off dry, it may turn around later in the month. The Climate Prediction Center’s latest outlook calls for September to have better chances of being wetter than normal this year.
