Coldest Air Could Be On The WayOctober 18th, 2013 at 8:31 am by Greg Shoup under Weather
This is what things looked like in Kansas, Colorado and Wyoming this morning as the seasons first significant snow hit many areas from the Rockies to the Plains. Cold air continues to move across the western United States. But what about our region?
Take a look at this. Even if you can’t read a 500 mb map you can pick out a couple things here. 1. The solid yellow 540 that is buckled south of Indiana. Usually we use this line as a reference for freezing temperatures. 2. This set up will drag colder temperatures from the north and it forces the Great Lakes region into a northwest flow pattern. 3. That pinkish purple stuff in Michigan is moisture. We believe as early as Wednesday some of that could translate into some very light snow or flurries.
